Basic sensory training courses

Basic training courses take up a morning or an afternoon of staff time (3 hours) and can be given in your company or off-site at a convenient location.

These courses are suitable for those who are new to the food industry and/or have no experience of sensory science. Suitable for management requiring a refresher course, for those in marketing trading, etc who need to know the basics of sensory science or for newly recruited sensory assessors who would like to know a little about how important their job is.

Sensory evaluation is a scientific discipline which uses the human senses of sight, smell, taste, touch & hearing to measure the quality and acceptability of a product.
 

* The team at Independent Sensory Services Ltd. has considerable experience in providing sensory services for industry.

  • Liz Sheehan has worked for over 19 years as a post-graduate researcher, post-doctorate researcher
    and lecturer in UCC, as well as more recently establishing and managing Independent Sensory Services Ltd.
  • Siobhan O' Meara is a qualified food scientist with over ten years experience in the food industry. In addition to having completed her post-graduate research into novel instrumental flavour analysis techniques in UCC, she brings with her a wealth of experience in many areas of the food industry.

This combination of expertise offers participants excellent opportunities to develop their own skills and apply these in the workplace.
